M Social Hotel Suzhou Practices Social Responsibility with Refreshment and Warmth

A Winter Gathering Bringing Joy to Children

In the depths of winter, M Social Hotel Suzhou transformed into something far greater than a hospitality venue, it became a sanctuary of inclusion, celebration, and boundless joy for children with special needs from the Suzhou Rongdong Special Education Training Centre.

The moment these remarkable young guests stepped through the doors, they entered a world designed entirely for them. Tables overflowed with an extraordinary selection of handcrafted desserts, delicate macarons in jewel tones, rich chocolate brownies, golden pastries, and festive treats, each one prepared with meticulous care by the hotel’s culinary artisans. Against the backdrop of the hotel’s vibrant yellow walls adorned with cheerful emoticons and festive decorations, the space radiated warmth that went far beyond ambient temperature.

Yet the true magic unfolded not at the dessert table, but in the moments of pure creative expression that followed. In intimate art workshops, children discovered their voices through colour and form, painting figurines and crafting pieces that reflected their unique perspectives. Under the gentle guidance of dedicated staff volunteers and teachers, every brushstroke became an act of self-expression, every completed creation a triumph worth celebrating.

What set this gathering apart was the profound authenticity of every interaction. The M Social Hotel Suzhou team didn’t observe from a distance, they immersed themselves completely, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with the children, sharing laughter, offering encouragement, and creating genuine human connections that transcended the traditional boundaries of hospitality. In those hours, the hotel’s “Serve Above Self” philosophy ceased to be a motto and became a living reality, demonstrating that true service means creating spaces where every person, regardless of ability, feels not just welcomed, but truly seen, valued, and celebrated.

“Events like these remind us why we’re in the hospitality business,” reflected the hotel’s leadership. “Creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and celebrated isn’t just part of what we do at M Social Hotel Suzhou, it’s who we are.”

As the afternoon drew to a close, a final group photograph captured something remarkable: a community united not by circumstance, but by choice. The radiant smiles, and peace signs, held high, told a story that transcended words, a story of acceptance, dignity, and joy shared freely.

For the M Social Hotel Suzhou team, it was a powerful reminder that the most profound hospitality experiences aren’t measured in stars or amenities, but in the depth of human connection they foster and the lives they touch.

This initiative stands as testament to M Social Hotel Suzhou’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and community engagement, proof that when hospitality is practiced with genuine compassion and intentionality, it becomes a force for meaningful change in the communities they serve.

Small Actions, Big Impact: Orchard Hotel Singapore’s GO GREEN Initiatives Make Sustainability Simple

Small Actions, Big Impact: Orchard Hotel Singapore’s GO GREEN Initiatives Make Sustainability Simple

Sustainability doesn’t have to be complicated. At Orchard Hotel Singapore, the team has woven green choices so seamlessly into the guest experience that travellers barely notice they’re making a difference. And it’s working beautifully.

The Power of Smart Defaults

Here’s what makes it elegant: bed linen changes every alternate day as standard, saving thousands of litres of water without guests sacrificing a single moment of comfort. Want daily changes? Simply place the GO GREEN card on your bed. The system makes doing the right thing the easiest thing.

It’s behavioural design at its best, and it’s exactly the kind of forward-thinking innovation we’re building into Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ next chapter.

Building the Future, One Charge at a Time

EV chargers in the car park aren’t just amenities. They’re signals that Orchard Hotel Singapore is actively building the future rather than waiting for it to arrive. As electric mobility sweeps across Asia, guests can recharge their vehicles whilst they sleep, removing one more barrier to sustainable transport choices.

Discovering Singapore the Green Way

Complimentary bicycles wait ready for guests who want to explore the UNESCO-listed Singapore Botanic Gardens at a slower, more mindful pace. Tropical air, lush greenery, zero emissions, and that uniquely satisfying feeling of discovering a city on two wheels.

This is hospitality that connects people to places in ways that matter and last.

Small Actions, Massive Ripple Effects

The philosophy is beautifully simple: small actions, repeated consistently across thousands of guest stays, create enormous impact. No grand gestures, no complicated systems. Just thoughtful choices woven into the everyday guest experience.

The result? Guests align their values with their travel without compromise. Sustainability becomes effortless. And Orchard Hotel Singapore proves that responsible hospitality isn’t about sacrifice—it’s about smart design and genuine care.

As we celebrate 30 years of Millennium Hotels and Resorts and look toward our next chapter, this is the kind of thinking that will define our future.

The Gift of Care: Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ Gracehaven Christmas Initiative 2025

The Gift of Care: Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ Gracehaven Christmas Initiative 2025

This festive season, Millennium Hotels and Resorts didn’t just celebrate Christmas. We shared it.

Through the Gracehaven Christmas Initiative 2025, we turned purposeful hospitality into action, creating moments of warmth, dignity, and joy for children and youth from vulnerable backgrounds. Led by the Global PR team, this year-end Corporate Social Responsibility programme reminded us what hospitality means when it extends beyond our walls.

A Christmas That Mattered

Forty children from Gracehaven gathered at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore for a specially curated festive lunch. Not a rushed event or a photo opportunity—a genuine celebration. Lovingly prepared Christmas meal, thoughtful goodie bags, real conversations.

The children experienced Christmas outside their usual surroundings, welcomed with the same care and attention we give our most distinguished guests. This is hospitality at its most powerful: not just service, but shared joy.

Making Giving Effortless

Across all six Millennium Hotels and Resorts hotels in Singapore, Salvation Army donation kettles appeared in lobbies throughout the festive period. Guests and colleagues could contribute via PayNow QR codes or card payments, supported by posters explaining the initiative and Gracehaven’s work.

The response? Beautiful. When you make generosity convenient and meaningful, people respond with open hearts.

The evening elevated the dining experience with an array of live food stations, each bringing theatre and skill to the table. It was a feast that honoured both tradition and craftsmanship.

Commemorating 30 Years

Executive Director Mr Kwek Eik Sheng took to the stage with heartfelt remarks, commemorating this milestone year and celebrating the people who make Millennium Hotels and Resorts what it is. His address set the tone for an evening that honoured three decades of hospitality excellence whilst looking ahead to the future.

Entertainment and Energy

The night was filled with laughter and connection. Lively games, including a dance segment that had the crowd roaring with laughter, brought levity to the evening. Soulful live vocals by the talented Elvira Arul added elegance and emotion to the room.

A Thrilling Finale

The evening concluded on a high note with an exciting lucky draw. Cheers and anticipation filled the ballroom as staff members walked away with incredible prizes: luxurious hotel stays, the highly coveted iPhone 17, Samsung tablets, smartwatches, and more. It was a thrilling finale that added an extra spark of joy to an already unforgettable night.

The Millennium Hotels and Resorts Dinner & Dance 2025 was more than an event: it was a moment to pause, celebrate, and recognise the people who have built three decades of hospitality excellence together. As we look to the future, this evening reminds us that our greatest strength has always been the community we’ve built. Here’s to the next 30 years.

From Part-Time to Hotel Manager: Sindi Mcleod’s Journey at Copthorne Hotel Greymouth

From Part-Time to Hotel Manager: Sindi Mcleod’s Journey at Copthorne Hotel Greymouth

Sindi Mcleod’s career journey is one of those stories that reminds you why Millennium Hotels and Resorts is special. From part-time team member in 2008 to Hotel Manager at Copthorne Hotel Greymouth today, she’s built a nearly two-decade career at the same property, proving what’s possible when talent meets opportunity and genuine support.

Starting at the Ground Floor

Sindi’s first step into hospitality came in 2008, when she joined the Copthorne Greymouth team part-time. After taking a couple of years off to raise her children, she returned in 2013 as Reservations Manager. From there, her progression tells its own story: Front Office Supervisor, Front Office Manager, and in 2026, Hotel Manager.

Each step built on the last, deepening her understanding of the property, the guests, and the people she would eventually lead. This is what career development looks like when it’s done right.

Balancing Career and Family

When asked about her proudest achievement, Sindi’s answer is deeply personal. She has shown her two daughters that “you can still be a mum, run a household, be a wife, but also have a career and be driven and succeed, not compromising on any of that along the way.”

Not just for her daughters, but for anyone navigating the balance between professional ambition and personal commitments, Sindi’s success demonstrates that hospitality can be a career that supports and sustains family life, not one that requires sacrificing it.

She is equally proud of seeing her team members grow and achieve great things in their own careers. For Sindi, leadership isn’t just about operations—it’s about creating the kind of environment where others can thrive.

Advice for Those Starting Out

For anyone beginning their hospitality journey, Sindi’s guidance is clear and practical: “Be reliable, be flexible, and say yes to opportunities. Start at the ground, show potential, and embrace the craziness of hospitality: it’s what makes this industry so rewarding.”

Her advice reflects her own path. Sindi didn’t skip steps. She started part-time, proved herself, took on new responsibilities, and built trust with every role. That foundation has made her the leader she is today.

Sindi Mcleod, Hotel Manager at Copthorne Hotel Greymouth, who has grown her career with Millennium since 2008
An Exciting Time to Be in Hospitality

Looking ahead, Sindi is optimistic about the future of the industry and the opportunities available within Millennium. “Right now, this is a really cool industry to get into, and Millennium is a fantastic company to join. Change is coming rapidly, and it’s really exciting to be part of it.”

Her perspective is invaluable. In an industry often shaped by external pressures and rapid evolution, Sindi sees opportunity, not uncertainty. She understands that change creates space for growth, innovation, and the kind of careers that last.

A Role Model for Career Growth

As we celebrate Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ 30 years and look to the next chapter, Sindi Mcleod’s story is exactly what we should be celebrating. She has built a career on reliability, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace the demands of hospitality. She has balanced family and ambition without compromise. And she has shown her team, her daughters, and all of us what’s possible when you start with commitment and grow with intention.

Thank you, Sindi, for your leadership and for being such a wonderful example of what it means to grow a career with Millennium.

Culture in Action: Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Celebrates Teamwork with Surprise Afternoon Tea

Culture in Action: Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Celebrates Teamwork with Surprise Afternoon Tea

At Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, the principles of Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ Culture 2.0 come alive every day through the people, purpose, and progress that define the property’s approach to excellence.

In mid-November, the team paused to celebrate what they’d achieved together during the Formula 1 season with a surprise afternoon tea break. It was a simple gesture, but one that carried deep meaning – acknowledging the teamwork, agility, and resilience that made the season a success whilst reinforcing the belief that meaningful progress begins with a team that feels valued and inspired.

Fostering Innovation and Collaboration

Culture 2.0 is about creating a work environment where innovation is encouraged, talent is nurtured, and collaboration fuels results. At Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, this means empowering teams to bring fresh ideas, solve problems creatively, and work together towards shared goals.

The Formula 1 season demanded agility, coordination, and resilience across multiple departments. From operations and guest services to food and beverage and events, every team played a role in delivering exceptional experiences under pressure. The afternoon tea break was a moment to acknowledge that collective effort and to reinforce the spirit of collaboration that made it possible.

Culture as a Daily Practice

Culture 2.0 isn’t about grand gestures or one-time events – it’s about the daily commitment to leading with care, celebrating achievements, and creating moments that inspire joy, pride, and connection. The afternoon tea break was one such moment, but it reflects a broader ethos that guides the team at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore every day.

By championing fresh ideas, empowering teams, and fostering an environment where creativity, commitment, and continuous improvement thrive, the property is building a culture that supports both exceptional guest experiences and meaningful careers for its people.

Leading by Example

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore’s embrace of Culture 2.0 demonstrates what’s possible when leadership prioritises people alongside performance.

The surprise afternoon tea was a reminder that culture is built through action, not words. It’s the small moments of recognition, the consistent support, and the genuine appreciation that create an environment where people want to give their best.

As we celebrate 30 years of Millennium Hotels and Resorts and look to the future, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore exemplifies what it means to build culture through action, not words. The team continues to show us what’s possible when people come first.

From a Remote Village to the Capital: Chef Andika Dede Zakaria Joins Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta

Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta has welcomed Chef Andika Dede Zakaria as its new Executive Sous Chef, bringing a visionary approach to Indonesian seafood and fusion cuisine that promises to elevate the property’s culinary offerings.

At 34, Chef Andika’s appointment represents the realisation of a dream that began in Randudongkal, a remote village in Central Java far from any culinary epicentre. His journey from those humble beginnings to one of Jakarta’s most distinguished hotels is a testament to determination, continuous learning, and unwavering commitment to his craft.

A Career Built on Hard Work and Learning

Chef Andika began his culinary career in 2011 and has since refined his expertise across several of Jakarta’s most respected hospitality establishments. A strong advocate for balancing hands-on experience with academic knowledge, he is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in culinary arts.

His personal philosophy captures the mindset that has driven his success: “Better late than never. Keep learning food knowledge, keep developing skills, and always look forward. You can’t be big without hard work.”

It’s a philosophy that resonates throughout his work, reflecting the values that make exceptional chefs: curiosity, discipline, and a refusal to settle.

A Passion for Indonesian Seafood

One of Chef Andika’s defining culinary hallmarks is his passion for seafood, particularly Indonesian fish varieties. His signature creation, the Ocean-Kissed Snapper, showcases this passion through a harmonious blend of fresh snapper, sweet fruits, and crisp vegetables, brought together with a distinctive house-crafted sauce.

The dish reflects his culinary identity: globally inspired yet deeply rooted in Indonesian ingredients. Drawing from Indonesia’s vast and underexplored marine biodiversity, Chef Andika aims to highlight the nation’s potential to captivate diners worldwide.

Introducing Indonesian Fish to the World

Chef Andika’s mission is clear: to introduce the richness of Indonesian fish varieties to international audiences by preparing them according to global culinary standards. His vision centres on inventive fusion dishes that pair premium international ingredients with vibrant Indonesian produce, creating dishes that honour tradition whilst embracing contemporary culinary trends.

For guests at Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta, this means a dining experience that celebrates Indonesia’s incredible biodiversity through the lens of world-class technique and creative presentation.

A Warm Welcome

The management and team at Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta are excited to welcome Chef Andika and the creativity, passion, and dynamic vision he brings to the property. His appointment strengthens the hotel’s reputation as a destination for innovative dining, and his commitment to showcasing Indonesian ingredients on the global stage aligns perfectly with the values of excellence and authenticity that define our culinary programmes.

As we celebrate Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ 30 years and look to the future, it’s talents like Chef Andika who will help us write the next chapter. Welcome to the Millennium family, Chef Andika. We look forward to seeing the extraordinary dishes you’ll create.
