High above the streets of Manhattan, an unexpected community is thriving at M Social Hotel New York Times Square. Thousands of honey bees are helping to support New York City’s urban ecosystem.

A Rooftop Home for Pollinators

As part of the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and biodiversity, rooftop beehives were introduced in partnership with urban beekeeping specialist Alveole. Cities can offer surprisingly rich environments for pollinators, with parks, gardens, and flowering plants providing nectar and pollen. Honey bees can travel up to three miles in search of flowers, helping to pollinate green spaces across New York.

From Hive to Honey

One of the most rewarding outcomes has been the hotel’s own local honey, harvested directly from the rooftop hives. The BEE SOCIAL honey also finds its way into the guest experience, inspiring seasonal cocktails at Beast & Butterflies New York Times Square, from honey-infused old fashioneds to bee-inspired spritzes.
