Grand Millennium Auckland Hosts Les Clefs d’Or Meeting

Grand Millennium Auckland hosted the latest bi-monthly meeting of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand, welcoming Auckland representatives in person while colleagues from Christchurch and Queenstown joined by video call. 

The gathering reflected the association’s guiding philosophy: In Service Through Friendship, demonstrating how strong connections and professional camaraderie are maintained, regardless of distance.

Who Les Clefs d’Or Are

Les Clefs d’Or, meaning “The Golden Keys,” is an international association of professional hotel concierges, recognised for its commitment to service excellence, knowledge sharing and the belief that service and friendship are inseparable. Members wear the crossed golden keys on their lapels as a symbol of trust, professionalism and global collaboration.

Sincere thanks were extended to Rick Karsten, Chief Concierge at Grand Millennium Auckland, and the wider hotel team for their hospitality in hosting the meeting. The venue was more than a meeting room; it was a demonstration of the hotel’s own approach to thoughtful and genuine service.

Matt Morgan, General Manager of The Local Agent, delivered an engaging presentation on how the platform can further enhance guest experiences through stronger local connections, giving members a practical tool to carry back to their properties.

Looking Ahead

The meeting covered several forward-looking agenda items: preparations for the 70th UICH International Congress in Sydney; progress on exam preparation for two Les Clefs d’Or candidates; developments in the Professional Affiliate programme; updates on the new Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand website; and planning for the 2026 New Zealand Annual General Meeting, to be held in Wellington in late May.

Following the formal proceedings, members enjoyed a selection of dishes from Ember Restaurant’s new menu, a fitting conclusion to a gathering built on the belief that shared meals are where genuine connection happens.
