Sara Ibarra: 25 Years at Millennium Hotel Knickerbocker Chicago

For over two decades, Sara Ibarra has been a familiar and trusted presence at Millennium Hotel Knickerbocker Chicago.

Since joining as a room attendant in November 1999, Sara’s journey has been one of resilience, dedication, and quiet excellence. Originally from Guerrero, Mexico, she moved to Chicago 37 years ago with a strong sense of purpose and determination to build a new life.

Her path began in a factory before she found her calling in hospitality, eventually joining Millennium Hotels and Resorts – where she has remained ever since. Today, Sara’s story reflects not only her commitment, but also the heart behind every guest experience.

A Day on the Floors

Each day begins with a simple, steady rhythm – breakfast, an early start, and preparing for the day ahead before heading up to the floors. What continues to inspire Sara, even after all these years, is the meaningful connections she shares with her guests and fellow team members.

I like to give the best of myself to my guests and coworkers every day and make them feel at home.

That commitment has not gone unnoticed. Guests regularly leave tips, handwritten messages, and notes recognising her hard work and excellent service, and her team is proud of the standard she sets.

Memorable Encounters

Over 25 years, Sara has welcomed her share of notable guests. She recalls Mexican television actress Victoria Rufo staying in room 928 and meeting Jorge Campos, a player from the Mexican football team. Both left an impression for their warmth and friendliness.

Life Beyond the Hotel

Outside of work, Sara devotes her time to caring for her grandson, cooking for her family, and enjoying their company, especially on her days off. She is also deeply proud of the property itself, describing Millennium Hotel Knickerbocker Chicago as a hotel with a great history and a great location near the Magnificent Mile.
