Sindi Mcleod’s career journey is one of those stories that reminds you why Millennium Hotels and Resorts is special. From part-time team member in 2008 to Hotel Manager at Copthorne Hotel Greymouth today, she’s built a nearly two-decade career at the same property, proving what’s possible when talent meets opportunity and genuine support.
Sindi’s first step into hospitality came in 2008, when she joined the Copthorne Greymouth team part-time. After taking a couple of years off to raise her children, she returned in 2013 as Reservations Manager. From there, her progression tells its own story: Front Office Supervisor, Front Office Manager, and in 2026, Hotel Manager.
Each step built on the last, deepening her understanding of the property, the guests, and the people she would eventually lead. This is what career development looks like when it’s done right.
When asked about her proudest achievement, Sindi’s answer is deeply personal. She has shown her two daughters that “you can still be a mum, run a household, be a wife, but also have a career and be driven and succeed, not compromising on any of that along the way.”
Not just for her daughters, but for anyone navigating the balance between professional ambition and personal commitments, Sindi’s success demonstrates that hospitality can be a career that supports and sustains family life, not one that requires sacrificing it.
She is equally proud of seeing her team members grow and achieve great things in their own careers. For Sindi, leadership isn’t just about operations—it’s about creating the kind of environment where others can thrive.
For anyone beginning their hospitality journey, Sindi’s guidance is clear and practical: “Be reliable, be flexible, and say yes to opportunities. Start at the ground, show potential, and embrace the craziness of hospitality: it’s what makes this industry so rewarding.”
Her advice reflects her own path. Sindi didn’t skip steps. She started part-time, proved herself, took on new responsibilities, and built trust with every role. That foundation has made her the leader she is today.
Looking ahead, Sindi is optimistic about the future of the industry and the opportunities available within Millennium. “Right now, this is a really cool industry to get into, and Millennium is a fantastic company to join. Change is coming rapidly, and it’s really exciting to be part of it.”
Her perspective is invaluable. In an industry often shaped by external pressures and rapid evolution, Sindi sees opportunity, not uncertainty. She understands that change creates space for growth, innovation, and the kind of careers that last.
As we celebrate Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ 30 years and look to the next chapter, Sindi Mcleod’s story is exactly what we should be celebrating. She has built a career on reliability, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace the demands of hospitality. She has balanced family and ambition without compromise. And she has shown her team, her daughters, and all of us what’s possible when you start with commitment and grow with intention.
Thank you, Sindi, for your leadership and for being such a wonderful example of what it means to grow a career with Millennium.
